A good reason for keeping in touch when you are away from home, or at least for keeping some decent notes about your experiences.

It seems as though Marco Polo discovered the west coast of North America about 200 years before Columbus sailed the ocean blue.  According to an article in the Corriere della Sera the great explorer did not record half of what he saw so it was not suspected that he made it as far east as modern Alaska.  The USA is currently analyzing a map from Polo’s time that if authenticated would prove that he was the 1st Italian on American shores.
