Stiletto-race: for Glamour and $13,000

August 21st, 2007 · 1 Comment

Berlin- 100 women raced 100 meters in the second Glamour Magazine Stiletto-Race. The winner, Denise Hanitzsch, posted a time of 14.7 seconds. This time may not seem very quick compared to the woman’s world record of 10.49 posted by Florence Griffith Joyner, however Frau Hanitzsch was wearing stilettos which had which had to be at least 7 centimeters (2.75 inches) high and no more than 1.5 centimeters (0.6 inches) wide at the tip. When asked how she is going to spend the winnings she said, “On shoes of course!” One pair of shoes she will not be able to afford with her winnings: Manolo Blahnik alligator boots which carry a $14,000 price tag.

When is next year’s edition? I’d like to help out with warming up, material checks, test runs, etc. ;-)
