iKangaroo Tour Yourself Angels & Demons PodcastsiKangaroo is proud to introduce our brand new Guide Yourself Podcasts.  The first Guide Yourself installment is a companion to Dan Brown’s Angels & Demons that will help you experience the thriller like never before while following the action of the book and movie on your iPodTouch or iPhone. This is especially true if you are lucky enough to view and listen to these in Rome, where the action happens. Enhanced podcasts blend pictures and maps with voice explanations to provide the richest experience possible when visiting all the sites featured in the book and movie.  We use pictures to point out details that you would miss, show you the people that are being discussed and show you how a place has looked over the centuries.  Plus we add in maps to get you where you are going quickly and easily.

Angels & Demons, Dan Brown’s book about a plot to destroy the Vatican,  has been made into a movie starring Tom Hanks and is now an international blockbuster.  For close to 10 years tourists in Rome have been supplementing their guidebooks with this thriller that features six of Rome’s most famous sites.  People even brought copies of the book to St. Peter’s Square when the last Pope, Benedict XVI, was elected in April 2005.

The story is about a secret society called the Illuminati that have reemerged after plotting for centuries to annihilate the Catholic Church.  The yarn winds through the streets of Rome as Harvard Professor Robert Langdon races to find a mega bomb planted somewhere in the Vatican by following a secret path called the Path of Illumination which is marked by some of Gian Lorenzo Bernini’s greatest masterpieces.  Besides being a good story, Angels & Demons is a chance to visit some of Rome’s lesser known churches and learn more about Catholic symbolism and how it applies to this story.  Plus our podcasts add a lot more in terms of history and yes from time to time we will correct the “liberties” in the story.

iKangaroo has produced seven enhanced podcasts that you can download for free to your iPod or iPhone.  These podcasts give all the history of the people and places, tell yiKangaroo Touchou how to navigate yourself on the Path of Illumination and as an added bonus we recommend some of Rome’s best gelato, pizza and caffeés.  To accompany the podcasts here is a PDF guide -iKangaroo Angels & Demons cheat sheet - that organizes all the covered information.   Don’t worry about a map for now, when you get to Rome you will easily be able to get one at your hotel.  So all you need to do is download these seven podcasts, print the PDF, go to Rome and get your map and you have a free Angels & Demons tour.  Since these tours are going for upwards of €50 we can honestly say that they are a €50 value and you can do it all on your own.

Have fun, enjoy your tour and please don’t hesitate to drop us a line to let us know what you think.

To visit our Guide Yourself Podcasts either click on any of the pictures or just follow this link to the iKangaroo section of the iTunes Store.

Happy travels,

Chris
